Roku TV can't connect to new wifi using Roku app

I have a Roku TV and I just got a new Wi-Fi network . I am using the Roku app as my remote. I am trying to setup the new WiFi network but I can't get to settings on my Roku TV plus my Roku TV is not showing up under devices. It was there before. It's showing under my account.

We get that your Roku TV is not listed under "Devices" on your Roku mobile app. We're here to assist you.

A Roku device or Roku TV will only work with the Roku mobile app if it is connected to the internet. Therefore, if you are attempting to update or change the network connection of your Roku TV, you must use a physical Roku remote, as it will be disconnected from your previous internet service. This disconnection prevents the Roku TV from appearing on the device list in the Roku mobile app, since it will only detect devices connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

  • It's good to have a remote but if you want to be online even quicker, you can set the SSID and password of the new router to be the same as the previous one.  If you do that, the Roku will usually just reconnect without knowing anything has changed.
