Roku Streaming Stick not working with ARC/AVR unless power is reset

I have the exact same problem as you are describing. If I unplug the Roku and then plug back in the ARC turns on and works as it should.

  • Hi Bmack61,

Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community!

We understand you're having a problem with the Roku streaming stick since it will not work with the ARC or AVR. We're happy to help. Please be advised that if you're using the TV's USB port to power the stick, use the supplied USB power adapter plugged into the wall. Also, try turning it off if there's a "power saving" option under Settings->System->Power.

We hope this helps. Please keep us posted if the problem persists.

    Best regards,
    John

Thanks for the suggestions but I have tried them with no success.

The Roku 4K Streaming stick keeps disabling the ARC on my Hisense TV. If I leave the TV sound settings menu on the screen, I can see the audio out put turn back from TV speaker to ARC when I unplug the Roku power and restart. When I start the TV with the Roku remote  the Denon AVR And TV ARC will not work, TV speaker only.

i have disabled power saving on all components, has not helped.

i have plugged the Roku into the Denon AVR instead of the TV as well. The Roku will stream but not control the volume, does not seem able to find the Denon codes to control the volume?? The Denon AVR is not old, has ARC HDMI and 5 more HDMI ports.

i have disabled the CEC controls on the TV, no improvement. I also returned the Roku stick and bought a Roku Express, I thought the audio controls on the Roku may be overriding the AVR. This did not work either, still kept disabling ARC until the Roku power was cycled.
I have switched back to the Roku 4K Streaming stick and have plugged into the Denon AVR and have to use it’s remote for volume and the Roku for channels.

Apparently this is a common problem as I have heard this from several stores that they hear this a lot.
      Any suggestions would be appreciated.

        Welcome, Grampyb.

        Thanks for stopping by!

Is this happening on all the channels or just one in particular? Also, did you get any software updates right before this started?

Please get back to us so we can dive right in!
