Roku Streaming Stick 4K not responding after turning the TV on

My Roku is only 8 months old (Roku Streaming Stick 4K).  The remote turns ON the tv but to activate the Roku device I need to wake up the device by hitting any button on the screen to get to the home screen.  The Roku would not respond at all and I was stuck on the dark screen and would not take me to the Roku home screen.  I had to unplug the device from the TV to get past this issue

    Hi SusieBlakley,

    Welcome to the Roku Community!

We get that your Roku TV is stuck on the TCL Roku TV logo. We would be more than happy to assist you with this concern.

Let's see if this will work for you.

Restart your Roku TV by unplugging it into the power outlet for 10 seconds. If the issue persists, try to plug it into a different power outlet.

If it still won't work after trying the troubleshooting suggested above, we suggest you contact the TCL TV manufacturer for further assistance. Roku TV Partner Support Contact Information

    Please keep us posted.

    Regards,

    Hi, sdornbrock61

Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Roku Community.

We understand that you're having an issue with your Roku Streaming Stick 4K, and we're here to assist. We'll provide a series of troubleshooting steps that you can try to address the issue. Follow the instructions below:

    • Try a different HDMI port where your Roku device is connected.
    • Connect the Roku Streaming Stick 4K directly to the wall outlet, and not the TV.
    • Perform a system restart by navigating to Settings > System > Power (skip if not available) > System Restart.

Once these steps have been performed, please check to see the effectiveness of the troubleshooting.

    We hope this works.

    Best wishes,
    Kash

i have the same issue. It was a sudden issue. And maybe I’m missing something but, how is it possible to go to settings to do a reboot when I can’t even get to the Roku Home Screen?

Ok tried that and no luck. The remote works for a moment, sometimes asks me to connect to the wifi which I did, then the remote just quits.  I have had this issue with this tv on and off since I got it. Whenever we have a power outage or internet issue I go through this.  I tried resetting the Wifi, unplugging, changing batteries etc.  Usually one of those steps works but not this time.  All other devices including my Roku in another room work fine

I’m having an identical issue. And same, all other instances in other rooms works fine.

No response from Roku remote (I have 2...neither will connect me to Wifi). I'm really getting fed up with your problems and can't find a telephone number to call.  Please assist me with a live conversation.

  • My roku is 6.months old. Home screen is frozen. Says I am not connected.  What do I do?

793627, "Not connected" and frozen should be mutually exclusive.  However, if you have a stick that has the Wi-Fi receiver embedded in the USB cable, you may see both occur because the voice remote communicates with that receiver which is also used to connect to your network.  So, do you have a stick that plugs into the TV without the need for an HDMI cable and a voice remote?  What's the model number of the Roku device written on it somewhere?
