Roku Remote won't pair via Wi-Fi mobile hot spot

I need any help or insight you can provide. 
I have been using a mobile hotspot for a month now with no issues. 
Out of the blue yesterday, my Roku remote stopped working. 
I initially unplugged the Roku streaming stick, plugged it back in, & tried to pair. 
I have a fast (not slower) green pairing light blinking, which is also new. 
it would not pair or work. I changed out the batteries, repeated my prior steps, and the remote still wouldn't work. 
Late last night, I had coincidentally left my Roku with the batteries out to see if it would readjust itself. 
My hotspot was activated on my phone, I repeated prior steps mentioned, placed the batteries in, and the remote worked!

• This morning, it's not working again. 
  Any suggestions or insight would be very helpful!
