Roku remote only turns off TV, not Roku

The problem is if you're streaming a show and power down everyone in their right mind would think it should stop streaming the show. Stupidest behavior ever.

  • Hi Oke,

    Welcome to the Roku Community!

Thanks for posting regarding the issue you are experiencing with your Roku device.
When you are done streaming, are you making sure to return to the Home screen before turning off your TV? Please be aware that turning off your TV display does not turn off the streaming on your Roku device. You can turn off your Roku device whenever you're not using it by unplugging it from the power source when your TV is turned off.

Please keep us posted regarding the behavior you are experiencing, and we will be more than happy to continue assisting you further.

    All the best,

Frankly, I kind of agree with you, but it is what it is.  The volume, power, and mute buttons have always controlled just the TV.

Get in the habit of returning to the Roku home screen, or at least stopping the playback, before shutting off the TV.
