Roku remote keeps losing tv power & volume controls

My Roku remote keeps losing the ability to control my LG tv's volume, mute, power. Sometimes it loses it after only a few hours or after 1 day. it's happened 3 or 4 times in the last week. My battery is fine. It's annoying to have to continue to keep setting it up again in the settings menu, and it works, but then it loses it !

  • Same problem here with an Roku remote and a LG TV. I ran across your problem looking for an answer for the same problem. Good luck and back to Google Foo I go.

I'm having the same problem with my Roku Express and Panasonic TV. It worked fine until a few weeks ago. I updated to 11.5 and it is worse. Very intermittent. Also sometimes I will push the volume once and it whizzes up to 20 or 30 by itself. Trying to re-pair remote results in message that TV is not compatible, even though remote usually controls TV.

I'll jump in here and say that my Roku remote volume buttons are VERY sluggish and require a hard press to activate volume up/down.....so annoying. I end up using my TV remote instead. Samsung TV

I have recharged the remote....checked FAQs in support...had someone else try it and agree that the buttons feel NUMB

  • I'm having the same issue with my Roku Voice Remote Pro, using a Roku Ultra box with a Hisense TV.  My problem started yesterday.  I initially re-programmed the remote to work with the tv.  That worked a couple of times, but then this morning, it didn't work (apparently the process went through every code and said it couldn't be paired).  Once, I simply plugged the remote in to charge (even though it had 30% battery remaining), and it suddenly started working.  I've also had luck by restarting the Roku box, and this last time I simply switch the voice control button off.  It's obviously some kind of update or something with Roku.  Oh, I also had the same issue last night with the regular Roku remote that came with the Roku Ultra box that's in my bedroom.

After unplugging everything and resetting a couple times everything seems to be working now even though the pairing screen says not compatible, the remote is now controlling the TV.

  • Same issues with my new rechargeable Roku remote and LG TV on my Roku Ultra. I have been losing volume and power control on my TV 3 or 4 times a day randomly even on a full charge.

I have since found kind of a solution, but believe it or not, if you keep the rechargeable remote plugged in to a charger at all times, the remote will not lose the volume  and power controls on your LG TV.

Seems like a design flaw or lack of product testing since it seems to be a common problem from the similar complaints that are out there.

Same problem.3821x Streaming stick 4K+, 11.5.0 build 4312-CU, Voice Remote Pro RC795, Dynex TV

I have to disconnect stick from power, plug back in, and then set up for tv control to fix it. Works at first then quits. Repeat multiple times a day. Very frustrating. Got device at Christmas, and it has been a problem from the start.

        Hi Caseythekid

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Please reply here with the serial number of the Roku device associated with the affected remote. This can be found on the back of the stick itself. We'll be able to further assist you from there.

        All the best,
        Kariza
