Roku remote is not turning on and has no status light

My Roku remote won’t turn on even when pressing the restart button or  pressing the restart button and home button. The light will not turn on no matter what even if I use multiple new different batteries. When I restart my Roku, it just goes to homepage and I can’t change anything about it because my remote will not turn on no matter what. Please tell me how to fix this.

Same issue here.  2 remotes, neither activate Roku site. Only turn on/off tv.  3 days same issue.

        Hi there! Djl519

        Thanks for reaching out!

It looks like your remotes aren’t paired with your Roku device, which is why they only work to turn the TV on and off. To fix this, just press and hold the Home button and the Back button at the same time for about 20 seconds, or until you see a light start flashing on the remote. If your remote has a pairing button on the back, you can also use that to pair it up.

Here’s a handy link with more detailed instructions.

        Hope this helps!

  • I have 3 Roku Ultras and two of the new voice remotes stopped worked.  I charged them both overnight and they would work for as few minutes then the lights go out and I cannot do anything with the remotes.  I tried to pair them with the Roku Ultra and TV and still the same results.  These have rechargable batteries so I cannot remove them.  I already replaced one remote with a new one and that is working fine but no the TV is having the same issues.  Do I have to keep replacing these remotes every few months at $30 a piece?  I would prefer a remote where I could replace the batteries.  Would last much longer.

What is the warranty on the Roku remote?

        Hi there! Jibeman

It looks like your remote has a power issue that drains quickly, just a few minutes after charging, which should not be the case. Let's try fixing the remote by rebooting it. Here's how:

        • Press and hold the pairing button on the back of the remote for 20 seconds if it has one.
        • If your rechargeable voice remote doesn't have a pairing button, press and hold the Home and Back buttons for 20 seconds.

You can visit this link for more detailed instructions.

Regarding your question, these remotes come with a one-year warranty.

        Hope this helps!

        Thanks for responding, mimi_q

Did you restart the Roku device after you replaced the batteries before you paired the Roku remote? If not, please try to re-pair the Roku remote by following these steps

Please let me know how it goes!
