Roku remote battery draining in 2 weeks

I have a Roku streambar and thought it was just me. I only use it every now and then but when I go to use it the remote no longer works. I change the batteries and the remote starts working again. The Roku is on sleep mode so it’s not because the remoter is being used all the time Roku Streambar

We're grateful to have you here on the Roku Community, JohnnieT73.

Thank you for sharing your concern about the draining issues. I'd be happy to provide further information.

Roku remotes are designed to last, but a few things will drain a remote a bit faster.
    • Heavy usage of private listening on the remote itself--using the mobile app will save your batteries!
    • Congested Wi-Fi network around the device- the reason for this is that most remotes will use RF to connect to your Roku player, and constant reconnection will require more battery.
    • Or viewing lots of short-form content, like YouTube, where a streamer could go through a few hundred button presses in an hour.

Battery life will vary based on usage. For everyday use, the remote batteries may last two months or longer.

I hope you find this information helpful.

    Best regards,
    Carly

I’m not convinced. I hardly ever use the stream at and it asleep for long periods of time. Then I go to use it and remote doesn’t work because the batteries have died. I find it strange that a remote control without using passive listening would only last 2 months… my experience is that the remote is constantly trying to connect to the stream at even if it is asleep and therefore draining the battery
