Roku Mobile App Freezing When Selecting a Title

I'm experiencing a major issue with the official Roku mobile app on my iPhone today.  Whenever I click on a movie or series title, the app completely freezes.   This happens regardless of where I select the title—whether it's from the app's homepage, search results, or anywhere else within the app.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Are there any known fixes?

Thanks!

  • Mine isn’t working either. No matter what title I choose to watch. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and still nothing is working.

      Hey everyone!

Thanks for reporting this. We see that the Roku Mobile App freezes when selecting a channel tile, and taking a closer look will help us figure this out quickly.

To navigate the process, please provide the following information.

      • Roku Mobile App Version
      • iPhone Model and iOS Version

Please get back to us soon!

deleted app, did hard reset of iPhone, downloaded app, and got the same old same old. App doesn’t work. There is a horizontal bar showing that it is trying to load and a vertical bar, showing that it is trying to load and nothing happens. It’s useless.

  • I have the same issue. Roku app hangs after I tap on the name of the movie in the search results.  First noticed it two weeks ago.

Roku app for iPhone version 12.2.0

    iPhone 13, IOS version 18.3.1

    Scenario:

    - open Roku app

    - tap Search button

    - enter name of movie

    - in the found results, tap on the box with that movie’s title to try to find out which channels carry it

    - the app hangs and never comes back

     Troubleshooting:

    - restarted the iPhone

    - reinstalled Roku app

    - verified that my TV is listed under devices in the Roku app

This is the same for me on phone. Ever since latest IOS update to 18.3.1.  Works just fine on iPad with a letter version of IOS. Looks like Roku mobile app needs to update.  Please hurry. Going on 2 weeks now.

We seem to see many more problems reported with the iOS version of the Roku remote app than with the Android one.

Have you tried uninstalling the app from your iPhone, restarting the iPhone, then reinstalling the app?

Yes!  I tried troubleshooting steps like reinstalling the app and restarting my device.  I also spoke with customer support and we tried resetting my network, using a mobile hotspot for the TV connection and then with the mobile app connection.

Nothing worked yet.  I wonder if it is a bug within the mobile app or just an issue I am encountering.

I have an iPhone 16 pro. Both my phone and mobile app are updated to the latest and greatest version.

Yes. a select a program, and then I get an endless vertical bar moving across the page over and over again and nothing ever loads. I’m using an iPhone and I deleted and reinstall the app and it made no difference whatsoever. The app is totally useless.

Same here. iPhone 12 mini, iOS 18.2.1, Roku app v 12.2.0.
search returns results, click on any result and screen goes to a pulsing purple cloud. Icon bar stays at the bottom but is unresponsive.
