Roku Keeps Disconnecting from Wi-Fi After Recent Update

Hi Roku Community,

I’ve been using my Roku Streaming Stick+ for over a year without any major issues. However, after a recent software update, my device keeps randomly disconnecting from Wi-Fi. Sometimes it happens during playback, and other times when the Roku is idle. I have to manually reconnect it through Settings every time.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Restarted the Roku device and router

  • Checked for additional software updates

  • Switched from 5GHz to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi

  • Moved the router closer to the Roku

My setup:

  • Device: Roku Streaming Stick+ (3810)

  • Software Version: 12.5.5 - Build 4174

  • Internet: Spectrum, 300 Mbps

  • Connection: Wi-Fi (Strong Signal - 4 bars)

  • Display: LG Smart TV via HDMI

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is there a known bug or fix in progress?
Any help from fellow users or Roku support would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,Yasmeen

  • I am having this same issue.  Just started today.  Spent 45 minutes on the phone with xfinity - switched to connect to 2.4 GHz.  TV was connected and then as soon as we hung up I again have no connection.  I have the most up to date Xfinity Gateway Modem.  As I mentioned, this did not happen last week.  Just started today.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

      Thanks for chiming in! Jodi1969

Could you let us know if all your devices were showing no Wi-Fi connection, or was it just your Roku? If it was all devices, try unplugging your router from the wall outlet for about 15 seconds, then plug it back in. This can help restart your connection.

Let me know how it goes!

    Hey Nooryasmeen022

Thanks for letting us know about the network issue!

To help us look into this, could you share the following details with us?

    • Roku device model, serial number, and device ID. (found in Settings > System > About)
    • Tracker ID and OS version, and build (press the Home button 5x and Back button 5x)

    Looking forward to your response!

  • Mine drops the connection.  Then sometimes see my wifi (which says EXCELLENT signal), but still wont' connect.  Then sometimes it doesn't see my wifi at all. This only started since Dec 2024.  Only fix for me is to unplug and restart my router which isn't a fix when someone is working from home. Roku chat support has been no help.  They say they escalate to the engineers and they'll get back to me, but never do.  Fed up.

Yes.. All three of my Rokus...a puck and two hdmi connectors drop the Internet in a chronic manner since July 2025.  My friend's has the same trouble to . As said before all other nearby devices stay connected to the Internet.  Reboot fixes the problem for about an hour.

        Hey, hamhunter1

It looks like you are having connectivity issues on your Roku device. Let's get more details on this.

        • Do you see any error codes displayed on the screen?
        • Have you tried connecting the Roku device to the mobile hotspot?

In the meantime, please perform a network connection reset and reconnect the Roku device to the internet.

Let us know how it works!

stuck123 If unplugging your router and restarting is a fix, that leads me to think that the router or its settings is the issue.  Look to see if the router is up to date on its firmware.  How old is the router? What model/brand is the router?  What model is your Roku device? How old is your Roku device?
