Roku express remote stopped working after two minutes

During setup of brand new Roku Express remote stopped working after two minutes. Have done everything I see suggested: replacing batteries, switching hdmi portable cables for unit, unplugging and replugging Roku, pressing reset on unit. I also have a double blinking white light on the Roku, but am having trouble finding out what this means. Any help appreciated.

    If the front of the Roku is blinking, then it's probably receiving IR interference from outside source. It's bombarding the front of the Roku, so it won't accept its own remote commands. Stand in front of the Roku at different angles, so you pinpoint where the interference is coming from. Take the batteries out all remotes in the room, re-introduce each one at a time until you find the culprit. Check for remotes under cushions or books?
