Roku Express Error Code 003

I moved to a different house with a different wireless network. I reconnected my Roku Express back up to the TV and got the message that the softwareds to be updated. I press every button on the remote but just keep getting the same message with error 13. It never goes to another page. So, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Dave

For the most part, the Home button should get you out of most screens.  However, there are some screens that you will need to use the arrow button to 'make a selection' (ie. confirmation box or X/continue message).

First step usually is to restart the Roku device. (Settings/System/System Restart or Settings/System/Power/System Restart).  Alternatively, you can just unplug the device, wait a few seconds, and then plug it back in which will reboot the device.

Then, just like you did, it is recommended to restart the router when having network/internet connection issues and messages.

For some errors, you can try resetting the network connection through Settings/System/Advanced System Settings/Network Connection Reset/Reset Connection.  (this is basically a "forget this network" feature and the device will reboot automatically and then require you to enter the network credentials again.)

Roku error code 13 is generally an ethernet-related issue.  Are you sure this is the code you are receiving?

If you are using an USB ethernet adapter with your Roku device, try removing it and connecting to the wifi/wireless instead.  Alternatively, try using a mobile hotspot (if available to you) on the 2.4ghz band and see if that gets you past the update.

What is the model number of your Express? (found in Settings/System/About).

      Thanks for the reply.

I am connected now, but I had to reset the router and Roku device. Sorry for the wrong information. My original error code was 003. All it showed me was the need to update software, and the error code. No button I pushed would get me off that page. After I rebooted the router, and reset the Roku device, then and only then did it allow me to choose a wireless network. I was able to enter the router password, and now I am connected to see the different Roku offerings.

Thanks very much again for your reply,

      Dave
