ROKU Express connected to Aux AVR not working

Brand new ROKU express connecting to Onkyo AV receiver since the TV is mounted flush to the wall. Connected to the AUX/HDMI port-ROKU logo comes up, get started entering wifi info then goes black to no signal. Selecting source on TV remote recognizes HDMI-CEC ROKU Express when I select that it goes back to no signal HDMI1/DVI. I tried connecting to other empty HDMI ports on the receiver but it doesn't recognize it at all. Tried different power bricks with no different outcome. Connected it to another TV to make sure the device wasn't defective and it works perfectly.
 Any suggestion on how to connect to AVR without taking the TV off the wall?

    Try connecting the Express to the TV where it works and change the "Display type" from "Automatic" to 1080p or 720p and then try it with the AVR again.
