They haven't fixed this yet? At one point I was having better luck with Rechargeable NiMh, now they only last a few key presses.
I have currently been using a Fire Tablet as a remote.

A warm welcome to the Roku Community, dogwoodman!
I understand the battery issues you're currently experiencing with your Roku remote, and I'd be happy to provide further information.
Roku remotes are designed to last, but a few things will drain a remote a bit faster.- There is a congested Wi-Fi network around the device. The reason for this is that most remotes will use RF, including your current remote, to connect to your Roku Express 4K, and constant reconnection will use more battery.
- Or viewing lots of short-form content, like YouTube, where a streamer could go through a few hundred button presses in an hour.
By the way, we also offer the Voice Remote Pro (2nd edition), a rechargeable remote with private listening, voice search, and voice commands with 50% more battery life than the previous edition; your remote typically lasts three months on a single charge. It has two programmable shortcut buttons and a lost remote finder, so you'll never have to buy a pack of batteries again.
I hope you find this information helpful.
Best regards,
Carly
