Roku automatically turns on then open Apple TV

I know this is an old thread, but did you ever find a solution to this problem? I’m having this same issue with my new Roku TV (only had it a few weeks). I tried turning it off. When I turn it back on, it returns to the AppleTV App screen. I tried the dedicated Roku button for Netflix. It takes me to Netflix, but if I then p hit the back button or Home button trying to exit, both take me right back to the Apple TV App screen. I cannot get back to the home page or settings no matter what I try.

  • Thank you for the response. I managed to solve this issue on my own a few hours ago.

I previously tried unplugging for 1 minute and then plugging back in. That didn’t work. I still couldn’t reach the Home Screen.

In case this happens to anyone else, what finally worked:

      • Press the Home button five times.
      • Press the Up arrow once.
      • Press the Rewind button twice.
      • Press the Fast Forward button twice.
      • Wait a few seconds for the TV to restart.

This froze the TV for a few seconds and then caused it to restart. Once restarted, it took me to the Home Screen.

Not gonna lie I wasn’t expecting this to work I was like this sounds like a cheat code for a video game but I didn’t have anything else to try so I did it and it worked thank you.

I’m so glad it worked for you. I know I was about ready to ship the TV back to the store before figuring this out. They need to figure out what is causing this bug and fix it.

    Hello, lilacmaven.

Kudos on the photo! Let's try to delve deeper into the power issue you're experiencing with Roku.

By any chance, does your Roku remote have an Apple TV shortcut button? If so, and it has batteries, try removing them for a while and see if the issue persists. There could be a slight chance it's giving a random signal to the Roku that makes it power by itself.

Let us know what you find!
