Roku and tv not talking via hdmi after power outage for a few hours. Doesn’t work since power came

  • Welcome to the Roku Community, Thr3!

Thanks for letting us know about the behavior you've experienced with your Roku device after an outage. We're here to help.

The most likely solution is to unplug the Roku from power, wait a few seconds, and then plug it back in to restart the device; this will often resolve issues caused by a sudden power loss.

Here are the other steps to try if your Roku still isn't working after a power outage:

    • Restart your network connection. Ensure your router is functioning properly and that your WiFi signal is strong.
    • Restart your network equipment. Unplug your router and modem, wait for a few minutes, and then plug them back in.
    • Perform a System Restart on the Roku device. Do a restart from the Settings menu by navigating to Settings > System > Power > System restart. (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step).

Let us know if it helps or if the issue persists, and we can explore more troubleshooting options.
    Thank you,
    Chel

Perfect! After power outage I had no captions, although the system said they were on.  After the unplug and re-plug, I've got captions!  Thank You!    the old "re-boot" !!!
