Roku and remote not working

My remote will not pair with the stick anymore. Tried the pairing button and nothing. Tried holding back and joined button. Tried removing batteries on remote and unplugging and power button on stick several times. 
nothing is working. The remote works because it can turn on TV and volume controls.

    The Advanced Wireless Receiver is embedded in the USB cable, so if you're not using that cable or it has failed, you'll never get a remote to work since that's what it communicates with.  What's the model number written on the stick?  If it's 3810 and your cable has failed, you're out of luck since it's no longer made.
