Remote wont turn on the tv

My original roku remote would turn the TV on and off.   The new remote will not.    I have to use the original TV remote to power up and use the new roku remote for streaming .

    Thanks for reaching out!

It appears you are having issues with the power button on your new Roku remote. You may need to set it up in the settings first. Here's an additional link for more detailed instructions.

    Hope this helps!

This is hilarious, several times now I've provided a solution WITH INSTRUCTIONS and mods have come in later and left a shorter, less helpful response and marked THAT the solution.

I hope you realize that's how you make a help forum fail. Might not happen quickly, but it will.

That's likely because when you purchased the device it went through the setup wizard for the TV controls.

Go back to them and you can set it up again.

    Go to Roku Home Screen

Press the Home button on the Roku remote.

    Open Settings

    Scroll down and select Settings.

    Go to Remotes & Devices

Select Remotes & devices > Remotes.

    Select Your Remote

Choose the remote you’re using (usually labeled "Voice Remote" or similar).

Set Up Remote for TV Control

Select Set up remote for TV control.

Roku will guide you through a setup process where it tries to detect your TV brand.

    Follow the On-Screen Instructions

Roku will play some sounds to test if the volume and power buttons are working.

Follow the prompts and respond accordingly (e.g., “Yes” if you hear music stop, etc.).
