I originally connected the USB cable to a USB port on a power strip.
I have since connected the USB cable to the ROKU supplied 110v USB adapter.
Everything works perfectly now!
Did come with the original usb cable with the bump in it? And are you using it? If not then it will never pair because the remote communicates with usb bump, not the stick itself.
I installed the new 4K stick, the new USB cable with the bump and the new remote. The process hangs at "Pair your remote" with both the stick and the remote flashing.

Follow the instructions above - same problem as the original complaint. No change the remote still flashing the Roku stick still flashing. No communication. The same remote works of a different stick. A different remote doesn't work with the Roku 4K either. Seems I've wasted my money!
