Remote only start working after 15-20 minutes

Hello,

I have an issue where roku device is not responding to the remote after startup.  Then after clicking random buttons for 15-20 minutes it magically comes to life.

During the "outage" power and volume bottom still able to control the TV.

I dont see this issue listed here or in amazon reviews. Also unable to 100% be sure if the issue is remote IR or roku unit.

Please help.

P.S. I have changed batteries, I've restarted the unit, I have the latest software update.

Try disabling "power saving" under Settings->System->Power.

The sticks don't work via IR; it's only the TV controls.  If the stick is going into power saving then it may take a few button presses and a little time, but 15-20 minutes is ridiculous.  The TV controls won't wake it from power savings - it has to be one of the other buttons.

    Hi dlab,

Welcome to the Roku Community and thanks for reaching out.

We understand, and we appreciate the report about this. Could you tell us when did you start seeing this issue occur? Also, how long have you been using this remote, and is this the remote that came along with the device?

Let us know more about this so that we can further look into it.

    Thanks,

    Rey

      Hi RokuERey,

I think the issue started to occur about a month or a month and a half ago.  I've had the unit and the remote since approximately Jan of 2023. The remote is original what came with the unit.

      Hi renojim,

I will try turning off the power savings option and will report with findings.

Unfortunately the issue persists after disabling the power savings feature.  I've tested the start up multiple hours and days apart.
