Remote not working, and gets hot after battery replacement

Hello, we have had our Roku for years and never had any problems but all of the sudden our Roku remote stopped working and after replacing the batteries it now gets really hot and doesn’t work. I’ve see where others have had similar issues. How do I go about getting answers to this issue? Thank you!
