Remote making high pitched noise and is un-responsive

remote suddenly not working and any time batteries in … it makes a high pitched squeal. The remote is completely unresponsive, no flashing light on back with cover removed, holding down pairing button does nothing.

model: RC-AL2

sku: 3226000511

  • If your remote is making a high-pitched noise and is unresponsive:

    1. Remove the batteries and wait a few minutes.
    2. Check for damage or corrosion in the battery compartment.
    3. Try new batteries.
    4. Reset the remote if it has a reset button.
    5. If the issue persists, contact support as the remote might need replacement.

This didn't work, unfortunately. Thanks for the help. Guess I'll contact support ...

Well, actually, after re-inserting the batteries, rebooting the roku stick & repairing it with the remote, it seems to be working now. I think I just did this a couple nights ago, though, so I'll see if it continues to work. Thanks again.

  • RobBob2024Since you're new to Roku devices, are you aware of the remote finder feature? If not, when a user loses track of where they placed it, when a button on the device is pushed, the remote will squeal so the user can find it. While I'm unfamiliar with the RC-AL2, I have to think it has remote finder. Maybe the button on the device is stuck. Not sure if that helps but wanted to reply. Best of success

I'm not new to Roku devices... but i appreciate thinking outside the box. Also the remote is completely unresponsive... i don't think this explains things.

Please find below the previous message i received from customer support... but she is no longer responding to messages and never did send replacement remotes. Are you able to pick up where Carly left off...? Thanks!

      Hi Robert!

      Greetings from the Roku Community.

I saw your post about the issues you've had with your Roku remote, and I'd be happy to offer a replacement. Since your remote might also be an older model, we will replace it with the newest version of the Roku Voice Remote. With this being said, kindly provide me with the following info:

      • Phone number:
      • Precise shipping address:

I'll be looking forward to your response.

      Best regards,
      Carly

I think i replied to the email notification on your message and didn't log back in here to respond correctly. Since i originally posted, the remote on my other Roku device is not working now... very frustrating. Can you send replacements for both??? Thanks!
