About once a day my remote will freeze up and won't allow me to change channels, stop what I'm currently watching, adjust the volume, etc. Unplugging everything and removing the batteries from my remote and waiting for a few minutes will fix the problem, but doing this is getting old. Is there a fix?

The remote for my Roku Ultra is total garbage. At least 10 times a day it freezes and I have to remove the batteries to fix it. A have tried all solutions and nothing fixes it. Also, very often, the buttons perform a function other than what it is supposed to. Total garbage!!!

Eunice, This kind of response is why we often have so little faith in support services.If the remote is frozen, just how exactly is someone supposed to navigate through the menu and do a System Restart? Telekinetics maybe? Yes, if they have a smart phone or tablet, they could download and install a remote app and navigate through the menu that way, but you didn't provide that information, so why even mention advice that is totally useless without the extra information? You only make customers angrier when you do that. Stop reacting to part of what we say, READ what we really say, and then respond to it in a way that at least shows that you paid attention. And it would be nice if the Moderators would stop marking issues as "solved" when NO customers agree that it is solved. Multiple Moderators are doing this in many posts and it's yet another thing that only makes us angrier. If you don't have a real solution, don't pretend that you do. Keep the issue marked "unresolved" and work on real solutions.No one should have to tell you people this, it should be obvious. But apparently, we need to explain it.

It's not just you.I have 2 Roku Express devices, both with their original remotes. I bought them both around the same time, but not at the same time. One of them has no problems. The other one suddenly started having this frozen remote issue within the last couple weeks. Mine are both simple remotes; I don't have and don't want a voice-activated remote.I've checked the batteries with a battery tester (they had tons of life left) and later I replaced them anyway. No good. I don't like unplugging it, so what I do is use the Roku remote app on my Kindle Fire when the remote freezes so I can do a System Restart. Then the real remote works fine again. For awhile. Until the Roku stops responding to it for no reason (again and again). Just the one device & remote, my other set has no problems (so far anyway).I agree, it's maddening!You're right, their suggested fixes do nothing useful.

I have been having the same issue with my Roku remote. I have through about 12 batteries thinking it must be them, but when I tried the batteries in other appliances - they were fine. I have only had this new Roku stick and remote for about 8 months. The last Roku worked absolutely fine for 5 years. Do I need to buy a new remote control? When I contacted Roku (through Facebook) I did not get an answer either.
