Remote doesn't work with any other batteries

Roku remotes have always been a pain in the ass to pair and use. I got this Roku 4k around October 2024, and the remote stopped working last night. I've been through all the forums and Reddit **bleep** and non of it has helped. I've tried different AA batteries and non worked until I put the original roku batteries it came with back in... it definitely is not solving the problem but it made it so I can still use the remote although it glitches now. In the remote settings it says the battery is at 27% but it has said 16% and 24% before, it just keeps fluctuating. I am so sick of Roku remotes being like this. And I am not going out to buy Roku brand batteries. PLEASE FIX THIS. Because I'm about on my last straw with Roku remotes. Thanks ~

    Thanks for reaching out!

We understand that you tried to use different AA batteries for your Roku remote, which is running low on battery. We are here to assist you.

What is the model of your Roku device and the type of Roku remote you have? Please note that the Roku remote is compatible with standard AA or AAA batteries, which are indicated inside the remote's battery compartment.

  • That's weird.  Have you checked the voltage on the non-working batteries?  Do they seem to fit just as tightly compared to the ones that work?  Of course, you've tripled checked the orientation I assume.

  • Ijustwantanswer When you say Roku 4K which specific model are you referring to since my understanding is that ALL current models are 4K. I have the Roku Ultra 4800x and with voice  remote that uses AA batteries. I use affordable Amazon Powermax and they last a long time.
