Remote does not stay connected

Just got this roku ultra and the remote will not stay paired.  The status light is to the left of the power button.  It will turn solid white then red.  No buttons will work and repairing does not work.  The remote just turns into a brick several times a day with no solution from the tech specialist.  This is the first and last roku purchase.
