Remote buttons respond differently when pressed

I have a voice remote and the home, back, and down buttons are not functioning properly. The down button doesn't work. The home button turns off the Roku. The back button opens Netflix. When I try to reset the remote, nothing happens. I was told by the support chat that my remote is not longer under warranty and to buy a new one. I see that you can still buy this remote though? So, if I buy a new one then it also won't be under warranty? The remote is in excellent condition and rarely used. Looks brand new, not dirty or damaged.

The warranty is generally 1 year from the time it's purchased and has nothing to do with how old the model of the remote may be, so a new remote would come with a 1 year warranty.

If it was mine, I'd take it apart and try to clean it (with alcohol) which is easier said than done.

Thanks - the person on chat told me the remote was no longer under warranty as of February 2025, but they did not ask when I purchased it.

Let's restart your Roku remote again to ensure that we cover this step. Follow the steps below:

    • If your voice remote has a pairing button, it will be located either on the back of the remote or under the battery cover. Press and hold the pairing button for 20 seconds.
    • If your voice remote does not have a pairing button, press and hold the Back and Home buttons for 20 seconds.

  • I tried restarting the remote by holding down the back & home buttons for well over 20 seconds, but nothing happened.

Unfortunately no, the remote buttons are still not functioning properly and I'm unable to reset the remote.
