scotty2541, I sometimes use the method of slapping the end of the remote against the palm of my hand to get the batteries to pop out on their own.

I can get them out with my fingers, but I did some testing, and all of the flat head screwdrivers that fell into the ranges that I would call small or medium, fit in there and could ease the batteries out. I think you'll find those are better for "prying" type operations like this. (More leverage and tougher.)

I don't have a inventory of popsicles. or sticks. or tongue depressors. 🙂
I just live with the anger that I can't do anything with the Roku while I have to go to the other side of the house to pry them out and replace them.
And wanted the Roku people to know how much I despise it, even though the device it good.

I made the mistake of trying to pry it out with the tab on the battery cover.
It broke.
Now the battery cover doesn't stay on. Way to go, designers...
