Remote Battery Compartment Poor Design

I have to say, whoever engineered the battery compartment is incompetent...

The batteries cannot be removed by even the most "gothic" fingernails, without breaking them.  The gap is too narrow to even squeeze a key between the battery and the contact to eject the battery.  When using a mini jewelers screwdriver to pry it out, 50% of the time it pops back in, creating a fight with this stupid design.

And how many regular uses have jewelers screwdrivers available to them anyway?

This is the MOST HORRIBLE design I've ever had to deal with.

And since I use Eneloop rechargeable batteries to save cost and landfill, I exchange them more frequently then regular batteries.

Am I the only one hurting my fingers fighting with this?  Is there some kind of "We know this is trash, so here's an exchange for a better design" program?

Honestly, apart from that, I am very pleased with the product.

Scott

scotty2541, I sometimes use the method of slapping the end of the remote against the palm of my hand to get the batteries to pop out on their own.

I can get them out with my fingers, but I did some testing, and all of the flat head screwdrivers that fell into the ranges that I would call small or medium, fit in there and could ease the batteries out.  I think you'll find those are better for "prying" type operations like this.  (More leverage and tougher.)

I made the mistake of trying to pry it out with the tab on the battery cover.

      It broke.

Now the battery cover doesn't stay on.  Way to go, designers...
