Remote adjusting volume, no other buttons workjng

I got a new remote yesterday and successfully paired and used the remote for all of 24 hours. Now the remote will only adjust the volume up and down. No other buttons are working. What the heck happened and how do I fix it?

  • mackcarlson You do not indicate what Roku device you have.  If your remote is a voice remote it has a pairing button in the battery case.  Press and hold this for at least 5 seconds.  It should flash and pair with your device.  If this does not work tell us the model number of your Roku device.

I have a roku voice remote but without the pairing button in the inside. I followed the instructions to hold the home and back buttons for 5 seconds. That paired my remote initially on Monday. I tried to repair the remote using the same method Tuesday night but the roku wouldn’t pick recognize the remote. That said, as of now it still will control volume.

mackcarlson I found this on the Roku website

Re-pair your voice remote to your streaming device

Put your streaming device in pairing mode:

        1. Remove the power cable from your streaming device
        2. Wait at least 5 seconds
        3. Re-connect the power cable
        4. Wait for your streaming device to power on, and the Home screen to appear on your TV screen
        5. Within 30 seconds of seeing the Home screen on your TV screen, put your voice remote into pairing mode

Put your voice remote in pairing mode:

        1. Remove the battery cover on the back of your voice remote
        2. Remove both batteries from the battery compartment
        3. Wait 5 seconds and then reinsert the batteries
        4. If your remote has a pairing button, press and hold the pairing button for 5 seconds, or until you see the status light begin to flash.
        5. If your remote does not have a pairing button, press and hold both the Home button and Back

button for 5 seconds, or until you see the status light begin to flash.

        6. If the status light does not flash, try replacing the batteries.
        7. Wait for 30 seconds while the remote establishes a connection with your streaming device.

Once you streaming device and remote are connected, the pairing dialog will appear on your TV screen.

        Replace your remote batteries

        1. Remove the battery cover on the back of your remote
        2. Remove both batteries from the battery compartment
        3. Replace the batteries with a new matching pair and test again

I have a voice remote, only power and volume buttons are working. I have disconnected power, removed batteries and held down the repairing button. It does not flash when you hold the button down. How do I fix my remote?
