What you describe is typically a symptom of the Roku memory cache getting corrupted.  Clearing the memory cache should cure the problem.

The easiest way to do this is to RESTART your Roku.  (For Roku TV users reading this: if you have "Fast TV start" enabled, turning the TV off and back on just puts it into and out of a standby state and does NOT give you a complete restart.)

Depending on your Roku model you'll find the "System restart" option under "Settings > System > Power", or on models without a Power option, under "Settings > System".

If a restart doesn't do it, or if you don't have sufficient control with the remote to navigate the Roku menus, you can also restart by pulling the power plug to the Roku for a few seconds then plugging it back in and waiting for it to restart.

    Hi jgeren10,

    Greetings from the Roku Community!

If you receive a "Can't run channel" or "Insufficient memory" error code.

Here are a couple of quick things to try:

    • Restart your Roku: Settings > System > Power > System restart
    • Unplug & Replug: Unplug your Roku from the power outlet, wait 15 seconds, and plug it back in.

For more detailed steps, check out this article: How to fix "Can't run channel" and "Insufficient memory" error messages | Official Roku Support

Still, having issues? Share us these details:

    • How many channels are on your Roku?
    • What Roku model are you using?
    • When did this start happening?
    • What's your Roku OS version?
    • What channel were you trying to use?

    Let's get this sorted!

    Thanks,
    Roku Community Team

thats it!!! thank you so much!!! just restarted my roku and voila, youtube loaded right up!! again, thank you so much!!

  • Why am I getting a message stating "There isn't enough space to install YouTube. You can try removing some apps to free up space."? I have not added any new channels and am only trying to access ones that I have had. Its pretty amazing to me that ROKU does not have customer support for these issues. They have put the task of finding out why their system isn't working on the customer. Wow!

Try performing a System restart under Settings->System or Settings->System->Power (as appropriate).

  • I am beginning to think ROKU is nothing more than a ripoff.  You can’t talk to someone without paying and providing credit card information.  I think the Ohio AG takes these kinds of complaints.  The not enough memory prompt on Prime appears to be a gateway to being ripped off. A simple live person customer service number would be great.
