No video when playing video on any streaming survives
Roku tv, works fine. But any time we play video we get a black screen with audio.

There doesn't seem to be much response on this forum!
If you are trying to view videos from a thumbdrive or similar external storage device you may not be able to play videos unless they are mov or mp4 extension. The online Roku manual doesn't specify but that has been typical for TV external devices.
