New remote won’t work. Pairing light is flashing.

Just purchased a new roku express 4K. Remote pair light is flashing but the remote doesn’t do anything. It won’t select anything on the roku to set it up. Stuck on screen saver now. I couldn’t even select the language to set up.

    Even if it's already flashing you still have press and hold the pairing button in the battery compartment for 5 seconds to get it to pair.

        Try unplugging the Roku's power cord for a few seconds, then powering it back up.  This should reset the Roku's receptivity to pairing requests from the remote.
