Same box, bit of a different remote issue. I have the 4850RW-Ultra version 14.5, Ser#X02800H4FPSL I use on a Samsung QLED, and it's like using a pc because I have to "double-click" almost every selection I want to make. That got old FAST!
The device is less than a couple months old. Have done all the usual, restart, re-pair (which I had to lookup because there is no pairing button on this remote), remote is fully charged. Of course I'm not factory resetting because it work poorly straight out of the box so that would be pointless.
I have to wonder if the 'solid' cover over the remote signal window is the problem. The remotes we've had with the 'transparent' cover over the IR part worked fine.
We have/had quite a few Roku's over the years; 7 in use currently. We've had issues with the three newest purchases. It may be time to switch brands.
I believe these remotes are bluetooth. The power button (for the TV) is connected to an IR source just for the TV. We have the same issue with the remote. Just randomly, it will need a double press on a button to move around on the screen.
Could there be bluetooth interference in the area or something? Or like someone commented earlier... like the remote is going to sleep and you have to "wake it up".
Using the app as a remote is not really an option. It's nice to have.... confirms the issue is the remote.

cyberlawrence, the voice remotes are Wi-Fi Direct. The TV controls use IR if the remote isn't set up for CEC control.

Could that be why I see "ghost" versions of my wifi ssid? Does it create a ghost of the first WIFI that it has connected to?

cyberlawrence, sorry, I'm not following. The connection for the remote will sometimes show up if you scan from another device (like a phone or computer) as DIRECT-ROKU-**bleep**x (or something like that), but sometimes I think it's a "hidden" network.
