Solved

My TV keeps turning off by itself

I read all I could on this problem, but it's not something being posted.

The issue I have going on is that I will turn on my Roku TV and it will immediately shut off, sometimes it will take 30 seconds to 3 minutes and it will just shut off, I will be playing video games TV turns off, I pressed the HDMi option tv turns off, I turned on the TV, it turns off.

I read a bit and some people said it might be an overheating problem, but the tv will shut off after being off for a day or more.

At first I thought it would be interference from someone else's TV, but my TV will not turn on by itself, I even disabled the option for wireless and still no avail.

  • If anyone comes looking for this post, unfortunately the only way I was able to resolve it was to call to get it replaced, thankfully I had warranty on it otherwise it would've been a very expensive paper weight.

    Thanks to the community person who helped me, although not much was done I am glad he replied.

  • This is also happening for me on at least two TVs with different types of Roku devices. Seems like switching the USB to a different port or plugging directly into an outlet may have solved the problem, but I'm not sure yet. Neither of the TV's had an issue until very recently. I've had at least a dozen Roku devices and have never had a similar issue.

  • This exact thing is happening for us lately. The Roku stick turns on, boots up (dancing ROKU letters) then the TV turns off. It’s definitely not due to overheating; it happens when the Roku stick is first turned on. Then on the second attempt, it boots up fine.

      This is happening with at least 3 of 5 Roku sticks. Started about a month ago....

      Press on button, TV turns on, Ruko starts to boot, TV turns off. Have to press power on Roku again for it to stay on.

      Seems like an update thing - as noticed on these devices within a few days of each other.

      Not happy - wanting Roku to update/fix really soon!

      The issue started soon after I got the TV, maybe about a month after and we had it for 6 months now.

      We thought it was maybe the remote at first,.going as far as replacing the remote to which it seemed to work for about 2 weeks.

      After I tried to factory reset the TV and unpaired all devices paired to the TV;

      I also tried to change the way the TV connects to USB and HDMI inputs;

      We disconnected all devices plugged to the TV, fearing interference;

      We tried to clean the vents for the TV as well as clean the power button;

      And now we aren't even trying to watch stuff on it anymore because of the issue.
