Keyboard automatically opening on Roku app

When I switch TV in mobile app on one of my TV’s the “keyboard “ automatically opens. There is a green dot at all times next to the keyboard in the app.

I even tried clearing the data and cache before uninstalling the app and the keyboard pops up with something I searched like 6 months ago.

        Hi RocuisaDumbtch,

        Welcome to the Roku Community!

Thanks for bringing to our attention that you are having trouble with your Roku Mobile app keyboard that automatically pops up on your phone screen. We are glad to assist you with this concern.

If RokuTakashi troubleshooting steps above did not work to fix the issue, kindly provide us with the following details, and we will share this concern with our appropriate team for review.

        • Brand of your phone and the OS/iOS version.
        • Roku device/TV model on where your Roku mobile app is connected, serial number, device ID, and OS version. (this can all be found in Settings > System > About)
        • Tracker ID (press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times, and provide us with this ID)

We look forward to your response.

        Regards,
        Riamie

  • If anyone comes across this post trying to figure this out I will put what worked for me and hopefully it works for you.

Step 1: Go to roku settings -> system -> software update.

Step 2: If there is an update it will restart, if you are up to date, then choose system restart in this same menu and manually restart the roku.

Step 3: clear cache and clear data for the roku app in your phone settings. If you don't know how to do this just Google "how to clear app cache data on *your phone model*"

Step 4: uninstall and reinstall the roku app on your phone.

Step 5: reconnect your phone to your roku and see if your problem is solved.

This process worked for me, hopefully it works for you and you can now use the roku app without the stupid keyboard popping up every time.

  • The actual fix is to power cycle the TV. The cache to clear is on the TV not the app!!!!!!
