Is this update behavior normal?

My roku ultra is a few years old but pretty rock solid... I hadn't checked for updates in a while and I was in the middle of watching something... it stops... screen goes blank... next thing I know it's rebooting and then I see "finalizing updates"... If this is normal, I'm fine with it...Just want to make sure something didn't go wrong... Thanks

    Hi, lokelho2

    Welcome!

Thanks for reaching out. This is a normal behavior for a Roku device that has not been updated for a while, especially when the "auto update" is enabled.

The message "Finalizing updates" is an indication that the auto update has been prompted and will update your Roku device. In most cases, the Roku device will reboot once the update has been completed.

    Hope this clarifies your concern.

    Thanks,

  • lokelho2 Typically if it is a critical update or something required to maintain functionality, the device will update (especially if the device has not been updated in a while), which is standard procedure for most electronic devices these days.
