I have a Roku streaming stick 4K with the volume control is it possible to program the volume control with my Sony amp instead of my Philips TV?

Roku disclaims ability to (directly) control AVRs, however some people have success with having the Roku remote control the TV, and having the TV control the AVR via HDMI-CEC.
