Incorrect location on Roku TV

I switched from broadband to wireless (Air Internet) connection to the internet. Now my other devices can live stream TV through the PBS app but when I use my Roku TV and stick I’m told I’m out of the broadcast area and can’t watch it. I’ve restarted devices, apps and entered the zip code and still can’t get the live stream although I can watch set programs. What should I do now? Thank you.

Apps generally use your IP address to ascertain your location.  Use one of the geolocation sites like https://whatsmyip.com/ to see what location your IP address is showing.  It's not an exact science and I couldn't say why only your Roku devices are exhibiting the problem.

It is a bogon ip address. My non-Roku devices are able to access PBS live streaming through that ip address but my Roku devices cannot. I suppose that when my iPhone, for example, communicates with the PBS app it replaces the bogon address with one that works for the app but Roku does not. I expected that the zip code info would let Roku do that but it doesn’t.

  • If your public IP is a bogon, then I think you need to talk with your ISP.
