I cant connect my tv to wifi or my new remote to the tv because it has no wifi.

Hi everyone! I have a small roku Philips tv. It is not connected to wifi so I tried to download roku remote app to fix. That didn't work. So I went to the store and bought a new roku remote. The basic $19 one. It is a voice remote. I've looked up how to pair it to the tv. Holding the home and back arrow buttons. The remote then flashes green like it's supposed to. It pops up on the tv its trying to pair. Like it's pairing. But it doesn't. The remote still won't work. We have unplugged and factory reset the tv and still no luck. There are no buttons on the tv other than reset button and power button. What can I do?

I feel like the tv needs to be connected to a network but I can't connect it to a network if the remote won't pair. Please help!

  • Chaney423  Since you didn't specify the model of the TV, I am assuming that you maybe got the wrong remote for your TV.  I would suggest checking with Phillips customer support or Philips' webpage to see what is the remote that works for that specific TV.  I would think that most likely you need a Philips brand Roku remote.

Chaney423, I don't know why the remote won't pair - the TV doesn't have to be connected to Wi-Fi for the remote to pair, but the Wi-Fi hardware has to be working.  As far as I know, all Roku TVs support voice remotes.  You might want to try a cheap universal remote that supports Roku TVs or the Roku TV remote that works via IR and doesn't require pairing.

Since the remote won't pair, there could be something wrong with the TV's Wi-Fi hardware, but since it's at least trying to pair, that shows that it's doing something.
