How to pair Roku Pro Series TV speakers directly to Roku Subwoofer?

The sound quality of my 55 in Roku Pro Series TV is so good, I wish I could simply pair the TV speakers directly with a Roku subwoofer. In other words, the excellent Pro Series TV speakers really only need some low frequency support to satisfy my needs. However, Roku requires a separate Roku soundbar (or wireless speakers) before adding the Roku sub. Also by adding the soundbar (or wireless speakers) the Roku OS disables the excellent TV speakers.

Does anyone know of a workaround?

  • Hi, CharlesG1.

    Welcome to the Roku Community!

We appreciate your feedback regarding our Roku TV, and we understand that you have a question about connecting a subwoofer. We're here to provide some information.

Please be advised that you must have Roku wireless speakers or a Roku TV Wireless Soundbar set up and working with your Roku TV system for it to be a Roku host device. The subwoofer will not work with the speakers built into your Roku TV.

Furthermore, you may visit this support article on getting to know your Roku subwoofer

If there's anything else we can do to assist you, please let us know. We're always willing to help.

  • I was going to ask a similar question but wanted to add my few cents worth as I find Roku's audio strategy for the Pro series very puzzling. The sound quality of the TV is very good, but definitely needs a bit of bass boost. So why go to the effort of putting good quality speakers with Dolby Atmos, into the TV, when you need to resort to a soundbar or external speakers, just to add a subwoofer? It seems a waste.

I have tried adding a regular subwoofer, but the only audio output is digital and it is not controlled by the volume control.

Roku, please consider changing your strategy so its possible to hook up a subwoofer without having to resort to adding a soundbar or external speakers.
