How to fix Roku not finding any WiFi or Wireless networks

My Roku model 3900x is not finding any wireless networks when I scan for networks, even though this same roku was working a few weeks ago. I have tried scanning over the past couple weeks since the connection was lost, and I am still having the same issue. Every other wireless device can connect to the WiFi except the roku, and I have already tried resetting.

Be aware that, following the install of 9.3 firmware, express and premier units are no longer able to detect 5GHz networks, Check for 2,4GHz channel connectivity or turn off steering if your 5G router is dual-band. Hope this helps.

Can someone message me privately to walk me through the steps to check this?

Makes no sense, since 1 of my 4 Rokus connected wireless and other 3 did not. Unplug Roku. Switch off router for 30 seconds plus. Router back on. Once up and going plug in Roku. Worked on all three of mine.

I can only say what worked for me and I really hope that someone finds this in the comments or a reply because I didn’t know how to comment in here and I’m sorry I have been on the phone all day with on Ryukyu hotline they sent me all around the world but when I finally got to the person, this is what they told me to do and it worked my Internet would not connect at all. It was not the Internet. It was the TV MAC address which is an hardware faulty, is what I was told. I tried everything in the comments nothing worked, so I finally had to bite the bullet and call Roku hotline. I’ll unplugged the tv then I press the power button on the TV actually for 60 seconds, then plug the TV back up and go to your Wi-Fi connection and it should work it did for me to save time from calling the hotline and being on it all day, and if you’re like me, who restarted your whole system it let me put my apps back on through my phone instead of individually doing it on tv I have a ONN ROKU TV 50” I hope this helps someone

My Roku Ultra hadn't updated firmware in over a year. With the assistance from a Roku support rep, I solved my issue with wireless connectivity by plugging an Ethernet cable from my network switch into my Roku Ultra and it immediately performed a firmware upgrade to the latest version. After the Ultra rebooted, I disconnected the Ethernet cable and successfully connected to my WiFi network and haven't had any issues since.

No version of the Roku Express, and only the first version of the Premiere has ever supported 5GHz WiFi. The Express 4K models are dual band, but not the 1080 models. And only the Premiere 4620/4630 were dual band. All newer Premiere models were 2.4 GHz only.

  • I figured it out when I was connecting to the wireless I was using my Roku password not the the wireless router password 🥳

  • I had to go into the network settings and add a "private connection."  I went into my router settings and used the SSID listed (your router "name."  Then enter your wifi password (if you use one).  Worked like a charm....after 3 calls to 3 separate companies  and unplugging/plugging in everything and moving my router.

I figured it out. My tv didn't have a wireless MAC address showing. So it wasn't picking up any wifi networks. maybe some of y'all's might be that way to. The settings got messed up in my tv. Probably me pushing a wrong button. Thank y'all so much for listening. Y'all were a big help...

What did you do to get the MAC address reset?

  • yeah they same thing makes no sense whatsoever the roku is the jinx every since they kick ed x off youtube nothing be right with these people

no its does not  it still says not connected and when it finally does connect its only for about 20 minutes then back to square 0  makes no sense they needs to system wide  fix like they would done on your phone just dont make no sense whatsoever

my routers or modem dont have any  where you can switch over just plug and go  so now what

this right here aint nothing but some first they kicked youtube off now we having problems with the equipment next the company has to go into bankruptcy court to be reorganize why they not reporting on fire sticks having problems such as this my routers cant be switched over or the modem they can from charter/spectrum just plug in an go

  • I am having the same issues with a Roku Ultra (4800R). I live in a multiple apartment community, and there are many who use wireless. When I do a wireless scan, it doesn't find my Comcast WiFi router, nor any others in my apartment community. It shows all zeros for the MAC address (00:00:00:00:00:00). I have performed the Network connection reset under the Advanced system settings several times and that didn't work either. I have done a factory reset as well, and that didn't work either. So I feel my Roku Ultra is dead and will have to be replaced.

Mistermac56, the all zeros MAC address is not a good sign.  The 4800 should show two MAC addresses - one for wireless and one for wired.  Are they both all zeros?

The wired Ethernet works fine and has a MAC address. But the WiFi is not. I had this same problem about six months ago and I unplugged the Roku for a couple of hours and that fixed the WiFi issue. I tried that this time, but it didn't work.

  • So my experience went like this:

When trying to locate my wifi network at my new house thru my roku, the name of the router "Banana Hammock" didn't show up on the available networks, however, I noticed after looking at the Router that the more generic network name listed on the router, did show up in my available networks.

So, I clicked on the router network name that was listed as available and for the password I entered the preshared key (also listed on the router) and that got me in.

    Hope this helps.
