How to find link code on Roku TV I've already been using

One of my Roku TVs has been working, but was never linked to my account. How do i link this tv to my account? I cant find a way to show a activation code. TV has been in use for 6 months. Connects to the app with WiFi.

  • You have to do a factory reset to get a link code. If you have access to the menu:

    settings> system> advanced system settings> factory reset

        Thanks for the post.

We recommend rebooting both your wireless router and your Roku device.

I'd also recommend trying to connect your device to an alternate network, such as a mobile hotspot, to see if you can generate a link code and finish setting up your Roku device. Then once your device has been activated and setup, try switching back to your home wireless network.

Please keep us posted what you find out.

        Thanks,
        Danny

inkpig64, what did you see on the TV?  I don't know whether the link code is used anymore.  The current method is to enter your email address and you'll receive an email with a link to link your device to your Roku account.

babygirl1962, can you give more details.  If you're getting a Home Screen with all your installed channels/apps then your TV is linked to some account.  You can see the account by going to Settings->System->About.  If you're saying you're not getting that far then let us know exactly what's going on.

      Thanks for the inquiry.

If you are looking to activate your Roku TV and link it to your Roku account, a link code will be shown when you first set up your Roku TV.

If you need to generate a link code for some reason, we would recommend trying to perform a factory reset on your Roku TV. For more information about how to perform a factory reset, visit our Support page here: How do I factory reset my Roku® streaming device?

Please keep us posted what you find out.

      Thanks,

Why is it not possible to get the link code without losing all of my apps and stored data? That's pretty sucky of you Roku.

  • I set up an account, and got my TV to connect with the link code when I first got it. Now that I'm away from home trying to unsubscribe from a channel, I need the link code to access my subscriptions. It says that I have no subscriptions on my account without the link code. Yet, they are charging me for these subscriptions with the card on my account. This doesn't make sense! The link code should have stayed on my account when I made it the first time. It is sad that they are making unsubscribing so difficult. It's like they would rather get paid while we are going through a hassle of unsubscribing vs making it easy to unsubscribe from channels. Now I have to wait until I get home to do a full factory set and get rid of all my channels just so that I can get a new link code to access my subscriptions away from home. What a hassle.

The only time you need a link code is when you first link a new (or factory reset) Roku to your Roku account.  What is telling you that you need a link code?  To unsubscribe from a channel go to https://my.roku.com/account/subscriptions .  It will ask you to log in, but no link code is required (or useful).

Not true!! To view courses I have purchased from Great Courses on my Roku TV I have to use the link code. I do not have it as nowhere was I warned that I would  need it for other things after setting up my tv so I deleted the email once I set up my tv.

What do you get on your TV?  You either get a link code or it asks for your email address.  Are you getting some kind of third experience?  If so, what?

I upgraded my roku devise to 3930X as was recommended. The TV screen now only shows colored bars so I can't obtain a link code. The previous roku device worksed sporactically going on and off during a movie which is why I installed the new one.

Bikel, what exactly are you trying to do?  Roku doesn't use link codes anymore, although some channels/apps may.
