How is the Backlight Activated ?

My 2nd edition will not light up anymore when I pick it up. That is the reason I bought it in the first place because I watch tv in my bedroom at night. It did until I charged it the second time.

  • I don’t have the 2nd edition remote, but have been thinking about getting one as I also watch tv in a dimly lit room & and am tired of hitting the wrong button(s). So your Q seems relevant — so I did a quick search and found:

    “If your Roku Voice Remote Pro (2nd Edition) backlight stopped working after charging, try these steps:
    1. Reset the Remote: Hold the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for 20 seconds to reset it.
    2. Check Charging Connection: Ensure the USB cable fits securely into the port. Try a different cable or power adapter if necessary.
    3. Inspect Backlight Activation: The backlight activates when the remote is picked up or a button is pressed.
    4. Re-Pair the Remote: Hold the pairing button for 15 seconds while charging to re-establish connection.
    If unresolved, contact Roku support.”

  • I am having the same problem - I also bought it because of that feature. I do notice that they do not advertise that feature any more. They say "touch activated back light". Tech support (Chat) so far has been unhelpful - they didn't know about that feature. My light still works - just not when I pick the remote up.
