Fastest Roku Player Now and What Does That Mean?

I recently added a Roku Express 4K model 3941X to my TV. It 'replaces' a TCL Roku TV. (I received some nice help here navigating how to put the Express 4K on the Roku TV without the devices in conflict.) The 3941X was a spare I had sitting around the house I bought on sale somewhere a while ago.

The 3941X processes on screen noticeably faster than the TV in TCL / Roku mode. Apps load and run quickly in comparison. The 3941X also appears to be an older model player.

My Question: Would a newest model Roku Express 4K or a Roku Ultra be noticeably faster yet, as in close to instantaneous in many cases? The TCL Roku TV worked very slow. The new to me Express 4K is snappy in comparison. What would I see with the newest tech offered? There are too many models being offered now for me to figure this out on my own.

Thank you.

  • I've been using Roku since the first generation device and currently have an Ultra 4800X which compared to the others is a rocket ship. To maintain performance I use a power line network/Ethernet connection rather than WiFi though my WiFi 6 router is speedy. That said, reviews of the newest Ultra haven't been great so I'd recommend the 4800X.
