Entering Password Using Roku Remote

I'm setting up the wifi connection for Roku. When I go to enter the password using the arrow buttons on the remote, it selects all the letters and numbers when I'm clicking the arrows...... what the **bleep** am I doing wrong? I just want to enter my password.

    Maybe you're pressing too close to the center so the OK button in the middle is being entered sometimes?
