Does Roku work on Vizio tv's?

I have had a Roku Ultra for years on a LG tv.  I have both a Roku Express and a Roku Ultra 2024 that I am not able to get installed so that I can turn the tv on.  I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I suspect it is the Vizio tv.  I am not that great with this stuff, but I do have a Roku Express that works fine on another tv and a Roku Ultra (had for years) that works fine on a LG tv.

I will say that I have to unplug the tv and plug it back in.  Then it works fine.  But I can't do this every. single. time.

  • If you have a spare HDMI plug in the TV, it should be good to go.

Thank you.  I put the Roku Ultra 2024 back on it and since there are 3 HDMI ports I changed it to one that says ARC and it seems to be all good now.  It's operating with just the Roku remote which is what I wanted it to do.  I hope it is still working in the morning.  I'm old! lol  Thanks again.

  • The ARC port is mainly meant for using an audio device like a soundbar.  Although it will work for that purpose, if you are planning to add a soundbar, I would suggest the other HDMI port and reserving the ARC for a soundbar.

I learned that this morning.  It wouldn't turn on.  So I changed it to a new HDMI port.  I believe my problem is the Inputs - there are a number of them and I don't know how to correct that problem.  Heaven knows I've tried.  Thank you!

Thank you.  I found two more ports besides the one I was using.  I put the Roku Ultra 2024 back on it and plugged it into a different port and now we are up and running (finally) and just using the Roku remote without the tv remote.  All seems to be good.  I'll check tomorrow to see if we're still operating. lol  Thank you!

You can connect a Roku player to any TV with an HDMI port that supports at least 720p/1080p video. Back in the early days of HDTVs, there were some that did not support 1080p (usually 1080i, which is not the same) and sometimes not even 720p. But I don't think Vizio existed that far back. I have a 4K Vizio TV that has a number of streaming players connected, including a Roku Premiere 3920, Fire TV Cube, Nvidia Shield TV, and on occasion I connect an Onn 4K Media Player. The Vizio has no problem with any of them.
