Do screensavers use data?

I just changed my screensaver from Roku City to the ocean. I was curious if the screensavers use data since they're on even when my tv is off.

I'm pretty sure that one doesn't.  The ones that display photos or some kind of real time information will download the photos or periodically update their information, for example if it's a weather screensaver.  The Roku screensavers that have little ads floating by probably download those little ads periodically.

Some do,  but most probably don't.  By "ocean", are you referring to the aquarium?

Yes, the aquarium. I’m really enjoying it. Is there a way to tell if they use data?
