Default action smoothing headache

How do I turn off motion smoothing on the Roku 32" Select Series FHD 1080p? Advanced settings with turn off action smoothing does not show up when I press *. Going to return this back to store if I can’t figure out a workaround for this default, so thanks for any help!

    Are you pressing the (*) asterisk button during "video playback"? (ie. while the content is actually playing).
