connecting dvd not on home screen

I followed the directions to add dvd to settings and renamed but it is absolutely NOT on my home screen?

    For troubleshooting purposes, we recommend changing the HDMI cable connecting your DVD player to the TV. You might also try connecting the DVD player to a different HDMI port on the TV.
