Closed captions randomly shuts off on all channels

My closed captions randomly shuts off during shows and I have to reset it all day long. It happens on all channels including antenna TV channels. Very frustrating to me as I have hearing issues.

I’m having this problem as well. For the past month or so, every 1-2 days, I have to reboot my Roku to get the captions to start working again. I know how to set them to “always on”  and am very familiar with the channels I watch and how to have captions on. When the captions fail (on all channels) the setting is on, they just don’t work. After rebooting (home x5, up, rewindx2, fast forwardx2), they’ll start showing up again without adjusting any settings as they are always turned on. This only lasts for a day or two at most, then I have to reboot again. This never used to happen before. Since this is happening across all the channels, it seems to be a Roku issue, not a channel issue. Is there a way for you to fix this so I don’t have to keep rebooting the Roku all the time?

Thanks for sharing! We get that the closed captions are turning off randomly, and we're here to help out.

Can you check what version of the software your Roku TV is running? Just head to Settings > System > About to find it.

While you’re at it, you might want to give your Roku device a restart. Just go to Settings > System > Power and hit System Restart to see if that helps fix things.

        Please keep us posted.
